Autumn Splendor Adds to Thanksgiving Memories
Today at InkPaperStamps (stop #7 on the Happy Holidays Blog Hop), we feature Autumn Splendor and SU!’s exclusive Sizzix Bigz XL Table Setting die, both from the Stampin’ Up! 2009 Holiday Mini Catalog.
With these tools, you can make any holiday meal with family and friends a memorable celebration. This year, consider my ideas below (here in More Mustard/Really Rust/Chocolate Chip) for Thanksgiving.
First, let your guests know they’re in for a treat by sending an invitation to Thanksgiving dinner like this (click on each photo for close ups):
IPS Tip: Only hosting those who live under your own roof? Well, who more than they deserves a special invitation! Remember, kids love getting mail. . . and even the grumpiest DH will be hard pressed not to crack a bit of a smile, opening a card addressed to ‘My Sweetie’s Stomach’.
So, the big day comes and your guests are arriving. Displayed where everyone gathers, a mini menu board announces the delicacies upon which they soon shall dine. (And yes, in our home, we celebrate Thanksgiving not with turkey but with a nice, juicy ham.)
A choice of refreshing beverages–perhaps mimosas, sparkling water or orange juice–starts the feast off nicely. Give each guest a distinctive stem charm; just mix colors and leaf images. A die-cut coaster awaits at the table.
Place cards and napkin ties add an elegant touch to your table top. With some heat embossing and an Aquapainter, each of these will be an original.
As the celebration draws to a close, your more sentimental guests may slip some of these accoutrements into a purse or pocket as a memento.
Don’t let the unclaimed ones be discarded–in coming days, InkPaperStamps will share some thoughts on using them to scrap the day’s memories. We’ll also have close ups and more details on the mechanics of these projects.
Did I mention there will be blog candy on Wednesday September 9? (Leave a comment below and I’ll send you a reminder the day before.) And there’s more on the horizon for InkPaperStamps in September, including ideas for scrapping your favorite family recipes (demonstrated with many of those featured on the mini menu board).
So, which project did you like best? Do you think you’ll try any of these ideas at your next big occasion? Let me know what you think–I’d love to hear from you!

Hi Holly, I loved the stem charm. I was wondering how you attached it to the glass? Also, what is a DH? I loved your idea of saving the unclaimed “scraps” to use for scrapbooking. I will definitely be back to visit. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful Holly! What a great way to make your family feel SO special! Love it!

Holly, Gorgeous Thanksgiving projects. I love the menu board and the wine coaster. Can you do a tutorial for the coaster? It looks complicated.
This is my first visit, but I’ll be back.

Wow Holly, you have some great projects. That invitation is gorgeous!! Love the acorn you did on there. Didn’t care for that stamp set in the mini, but I love what you did with it. We don’t do fancy suppers at my house, don’t even have a dining room table. The only real table in my house is the stamp table. lol Geeze where are my priorities huh? But…..I’ve always wanted to do wine glass charms, just never have. Might have to do some of those. Great job hun!!
Deb
