2010 SAB Blog Hop: Bella’s Bloom – Treats, Techniques & Trinkets

A cozy cottage conceals a tiny treat.
Here at InkPaperStamps, we’re featuring Bella’s Bloom (and a small blog candy opportunity at the end of this post). This is one of the regular catalog sets that, for the first time time this year, you may choose as your SAB reward.
Bella’s Bloom offers two sentiments as well as a stemmed flower and a blossom-esque image. This set gives you the impact of bold images with the interest of line art, the best of both worlds. That’s a lot of stamping power and versatility in a 4-stamp set!
I paired Bella’s Bloom with the Mini Milk Carton die (a Stampin’ Up! exclusive from Sizzix) because the ‘From our house to yours’ just cries out for a milk carton cottage.

A trio of techniques.
For all you technique lovers, the stemmed flower makes a great companion to many must-try techniques.
As just a few examples, the ‘It’s Time to Bloom’ card shows off (from left to right)
- chalk boarding
- emboss resist
- a hybrid technique I’ll call faux rock & roll*
* (unless you think targeted thumping’s a better name for it. . . )

Adding to the array of techniques, the sentiment-less card displays (from left to right)
- polished stone
- halo-ing (or faux blurred watercoloring, if you prefer)
- faux silk over sponging
Now how many sets have images that can go through that many wardrobe changes that fast, and looking that good, too?

I have been partial to emboss resist ever since doing it at a home workshop several years ago. It is easy to do, works with a myriad of images, and lends itself to mass producing cards.

Wow Holly a full stamping curriculem all in one post! I love the name targeted thumping. So descriptive and anyone with siblings or cats could think of other real world examples too! That and the polished stone are on my list to try with this fun set. Really have to try the metal embossing too! Gorgeous. My Upline just got one of the charms so I’m hoping random.org likes my number so I can give her a belated Birthday gift.

I really would love to try the Faux metal. I suddenly got lots of ideas for Christmas ornaments to try with this technique! I love all of them, but this is the one I really haven’t heard of before. Thanks for bringing me a new technique to add to the list of all the ones I would like to try!
